In 2015 a CellCube FB30-130 with a power output of 30 kW and a storage capacity of 130 kWh was installed at the University of New South Wales. The storage system is used for research purposes. Additionally it takes up the surplus energy from a solar PV (photovoltaic) system.
The inventor of the vanadium flow battery, Emeritus Professor Maria Skyllas-Kazacos works at the University.
